Nate Powell SIGNING at the MYP on Wednesday 8 October 2008

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are having another signing at the Million Year Picnic comic shop!

, author of BILLY CRASH, CONDITIONS, FRANKENBONES, TINY GIANTS, IT DISAPPEARS, SOUNDS OF YOUR NAME, and illustrator of many a zine, comics journal, album cover, promo poster, and magazine, is coming to sign at THE MILLION YEAR PICNIC on Wednesday, 8 October 2008 from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Nate is promoting his latest work, Swallow Me Whole.

"Swallow Me Whole is a sensory reading experience..." -Leroy Douresseaux, The Comic Book Bin website

"Both provocative and thoughtful ... not since Robert Altman's Images has a medium so perfectly conveyed the experience of schizophrenia ... It's the best graphic novel since Craig Thompson's Blankets." -Chris DeVito, CD Syndicated

"Swallow Me Whole is further confirmation that Powell is one of our most thoughtful and boundary-expanding cartoonists." --lan David Doane, Comic Book Galaxy

"In the belly of Swallow Me Whole, there are dangling conversations, flying pills, final moments, front-stoop haircuts, racist Nolan Richardson jokes, classroom assaults, waves of pain, loss and paranoia, and a few of what Dave Eggers would call heartbreaking tableaux of staggering genius ... but there's not a single false note. Powell knows just what to show us and what to keep in reserve, only to be revealed when we finally get over our crush on Ruth and truly become engaged in the story that he wraps around her like the soundtrack of a summer night." -Steve Duin, THE OREGONIAN
